Asiatic Dayflower
- Commelina communis
This member of the Spiderwort family is one of two dayflowers
found regionally. The two large blue petals with a small white
lower petal differentiates this species from its close relative
the Virginia Dayflower. These are also related to the namesake
of the family, the Spiderwort.
As indicated by the common name, the blossoms only last for one
day and are usually closed by late afternoon.
