Catawba Rhododendron

This native Rhododendron is found, in the wild, at elevations
above 3000 feet. One of the more striking features found on heath
balds, these are in bloom in mid-June. They are so striking that
Roan Mountain hosts an
annual Rhododendron festival in June.
