Christmas Fern
- Polystichum achrostichoides
This evergreen fern received
its common name because it is in evidence year round. It is not
unusual to see it sticking up out of snow! The fronds, pinnae,
vary in the margin - some are smooth while others are toothed
or bristly. Regardless of the frond's margin, an auricle or "ear"
next to the main stem means it is the Christmas Fern.
