 Dutchman's Breeches - Dicentra cucullaria

 Dutchman's Breeches - Dicentra cucullaria

This member of the Poppy family is noted as much for the finely-dissected foliage as for the unique shape of the flower, which is said to resemble the traditional Dutch pants. This genus contains alkaloids which affect the central nervous system and can poison cattle, which led to a common name of "Staggerweed." Primarily found at higher elevations in March and April.
