False Solomon's
Seal - Smilicina racemosa
A member of the Lily
family, this species features a cluster of flowers at the terminal
end of the stalk. In winter the fruit is a cluster of bright
red berries
at the end of the leafless stalk. The rootstock was burned by
the Cherokee who thought that inhaling the smoke was a way to
calm colicky babies, and insane adults.
