Indian Cucumber
Root - Medeola virginiana
This member of the Lily
family has an edible root which reputedly tastes like cucumber.
American Indians chewed the root and spat it onto fish hooks
as bait. A tea made from the leaves and berries
was given to babies as a treatment for convulsions.
