Indian Pipe - Monotropa

A member of the Wintergreen family, this species is not green
because it is a saprophyte which gets its nutrients from decaying
material on the forest floor. Since there is no photosynthetic
activity the plant has no chloroplasts and isn't green. The pale
white color led to another common name, the Corpse Plant.
