As is the case with all Trillium,
this is a member of the Lily family and has three leaves, sepals,
petals, and chambers in the ovary. When the flower first opens
it is pure white, changing to a pinkish/purple as the flower
ages. Many people find the scent of Trillium to be quite unpleasant,
early arrivals in our area sometimes referred to them collectively
as "Wet Dog Trilliums."
