May Apple - Podophyllum peltatum

 May Apple - Podophyllum peltatum
The flower of this species only grows on mature plants which are identified by having two leaf stalks. The flower grows in the axil of the stalks, and later in the year will develop into a round, golden fruit - the "apple". All parts of the plant are toxic and compounds found in the plant are being studied as a treatment for several different cancers.
