Painted Trillium
- Trillium undulatum
Perhaps our region's
showiest Trillium, the bright splash of color may well be a nectar
guide. As are all trillium this is a member of the Lily family.
Many insects see in the Ultra Violet spectrum and it is thought
these guides serve the same purpose as runway lights at an airport.
Insects are led to the nectar and the reproductive organs.
