Red Clover - Trifolium
pratense
A member of the Pea family,
this species was introduced to North America probably as a feed
crop for livestock. The distinctive chevron on the leaf makes
this easy to identify. As do most members of the family, these
fix nitrogen in the soil and are used extensively as a cover
crop.
