Sourwood - Oxydendrum arboreum

 Sourwood - Oxydendrum arboreum
One of the first trees to change color in autumn, sourwoods are members of the Heath family as are Rhododendrons and Azaleas. While the honey of sourwood blossoms is highly prized, that made from Rhododendron or Azalea flowers is unpalatable. In addition to the fall color, these trees feature interesting fruit sprays and attractive bark.
