Tall Blue Lettuce
- Lactuca biennis
This member of the Aster
family features a flower that I find reminiscent of Chicory.
This one can grow to upwards of ten feet which is where the similarity
ends. Most members of this genus have a milky colored "sap"
which led to the genus name. The heart shaped leaves you see
in this photo are Wild Potato Vine which is growing up the trellis
provided by the Lettuce. This blooms from August until late in
September.
