Yellow Lady Slipper
- Cypripedium calceolus
Considered by many to
be one of the region's showiest Orchids, this species has also
been called Mocassin Flower and American Valerian. The latter
was due to the use of the plant, during the 19th century, as
a treatment for "nervous headaches, hysteria and female
problems." The other common form found in our area is the
Pink
Lady Slipper.
